Business Phone System Emergenices: Voice Mail Down
We know how important your business phone system is. It’s the life line for your company. That’s why when that life line gets cut Mills Communications declares an emergency so we can get you up and running once more. These emergencies often consist of, “HELP, our voice mail is down!” While this indeed is a scary time, don’t fret! We can help you through this crisis.
First, how do you recognize voice mail is down? For starters, you would be unable to retrieve any messages. This would be the case for everyone in the office. All voice mail lights will be solid red and an admin phone will display Alarm 203. You may also read “Voice Mail unplugged.” If any of these things come up, here’s what to do.
NOTE: These are instructions for resetting an EVMC card. If you don’t know whether or not you have an EVMC voice mail, give us a call and we’ll let you know.
- Grab a ball point pen and mosey on back to the phone room (where the system resides).
- Locate the phone system (dark gray box; there may be a cover on it or you may see the circuit boards)
- Find the EVMC card (second card from the right)
- Locate the “Power Down” button on the EVMC card
- Use the ball point pen to press in the “Power Down” button
- The “card online” light should start blinking green
- Locate the cream colored tabs on the top and bottom of the EVMC card. Unlock the tabs and pull the card out just a little.
- Once the card is out a little, push the EVMC card back in and lock the tabs back into place. You should hear a beep.
- Give the voice mail 15-20 minutes to come back up. If it doesn’t come back up, give us a call at 619-321-2100 and we’ll further check it out.
If this has ever happened to you, you know it can be stressful but know we are always here to help. If you’ve ever had to reset an EVMC card, it’s not too hard right? Not to mention, you become the hero of the office!
